Frequently Asked Questions

How secure are these implants? How long do they last for?

After the healing process (bone healing takes up to 3 months), implants can last in the jawbone for a lifetime. This likelihood far exceeds 90%. A perfect hygiene routine and regular, professional check-ups and cleaning are still required, just like normal teeth.

How is it possible for the patient to be able to chew directly after the “Teeth in One Day” procedure?

A special surgical technique and long implants are used to establish a high primary stability in the toothless jawbone. This means that the implant screws are inserted with great force and are bound together by the fitting of the denture. The implants are therefore ready to take pressure even during the healing phase.

How long does implant treatment take?

The secret of this technique is that we can attach dentures on the same day as inserting the implants As the dentures can take pressure immediately they are ready to use from the first day of the procedure. Normally, implants need a healing phase of 3 to 6 months, depending on bone quality. If diagnostics and planning are carefully carried out before the procedure, “Teeth in One Day” really does only take one day and chewing is possible immediately.

Why will I receive temporary dentures after the “Teeth in One Day” treatment?

The first set of dentures has to be made from plastics for reasons of time. These last easily for up to two years and should be seen as transitional dentures, rather than temporary ones. Our recommendation, if financially possible, is to get top-quality dentures after 3 - 4 months. These are made of materials particularly suitable for the mouth, such as specialist ceramics (zircon).

Does implant treatment with hurt? How much time do I need to recover?

In principle, implant surgery does not cause considerable pain that cannot be controlled by simple pain medication. The procedure for “Teeth on One Day” is usually carried out under general anesthetic, meaning a guaranteed, pain-free procedure and sterile operating conditions as well as preventing potential pain that may arise immediately after the operation. You must expect some swelling that can take up to three days to fully appear, but will be gone within one week. Some people may experience bruising, but this should vanish after approximately ten days. An individual assessment is recommended, as not every treatment and patient is the same.

Why is bone augmentation not required as part of “Teeth in One Day”?

Using this method we implant into the remaining bone. We can avoid bone augmentation by using long implants that are generally inserted angular to the bone. This method is what makes it possible to perform this procedure in only one day.

I have been wearing an upper jaw denture for years now and according to my dentist only a little of my jawbone is left. Do I still qualify for the “Teeth in One Day” treatment?

Yes you do. In cases such as yours, if the remaining bone in the front part of the upper jaw is less than 6 mm height and width, then we use “Zygoma” implants. These are slightly longer screws, which are embedded into the interior of the cheekbone. This makes them very stable and they can have pressure applied to them immediately. This procedure requires specialist training and a lot of practice. Apart from the BolzWachtel Dental Clinic it is only used in a few medical centers around the world and has been proven to be very successful.

It is important for you to consider that the alternative to this method is very long and difficult and involves bone augmentation through the transplantation of bone from the iliac crest (a part of the pelvis) to the jaw. In this method the new denture cannot be worn for a some weeks and the whole treatment can take up to a year.

Can I to talk to patients that have already received this treatment?

Of course! We have a long list of patients who have been treated with this method and are happy to share their experiences with you.

Is there scientific data to support your method?

Yes. We are currently in the process of publishing our results in a professional journal. Our scientific investigations show a very high success rate as 100% of all patients that we treated with the “Teeth in One Day” method, have stable and fixed teeth. Only 4% of the implants have had to have corrective surgery, which were due to complications in the healing phase. With more experience and by optimizing the surgery method, this number has decreased to only 1% in the last two years. Other operating groups in Europe and the USA also confirm these results.

How much does the “Teeth in One Day” treatment cost?

The standard treatment requires four implants per jaw, diagnosis, planning (including the 3D X-ray) and the transitional dentures. The treatment is usually € 12,000 for the lower jaw, and € 14,000 for the upper jaw. These costs do not include anesthetics, the costs of which are calculated on a time basis. Treatment with “Zygoma” implants will involve an increase of about 20%. Each patient will receive an individual quote tailored to their requirements.
